She was appointed the Governor of Tamil Nadu on 25 January 1997.
Fathima Biwi, resident of Pandalam, Kerala, obtained Bachelor of Science degree from the college in Thiruvananthapuram.
• She obtained the Bachelor of Law degree from the Government Law College and was enrolled as an advocate on November 14, 1950.
• She was also the first Muslim woman judge to be appointed to any Supreme Court.
• She is also the first female judge of the Supreme Court of any country in Asia.
